Cart Lift Loading Conditions

(10016) As an expert manufacturer of cart lifting equipment, Herkules knows that a properly loaded cart can ensure that the lift lasts many years and operates in a safe manner. Below you will see two diagrams which illustrate this point.

cart liftThis picture shows a cart that is evenly loaded. This load condition is ideal for cart lifting as the weight is evenly distributed over the entire cart lift. When the lift raises and lowers it will stay level with the floor and will have little to no deflection.

cart liftThis picture shows a uneven load condition. Here you can see that one side of the cart is completely unloaded and the opposite side of the cart is completely loaded. This type of condition can cause the lift to rise unevenly.

In addition, if the lift is equipped with a rotate bearing, it can increase the push pull force required to rotate the cart. Sometimes this increase in push pull force will increase to the point that it is not safe or feasible to rotate the cart.

It is extremely important to know the type of load conditions prior to quoting, designing, and building the lift. Herkules has extensive experience with all applications, and our solution in these uneven load cases calls for larger bearings for rotate units and thicker scissors for the lifts.

If this is your load or unload condition, please inform Herkules of the total weight that will be offset from the center of the cart. In addition, let us know the footprint (LxW) of the offset load so we can provide the correct style of lift and rotate bearing if applicable.
